Who doesn’t love chicken? It’s a lean protein that can be cooked in a variety of ways, making it a go-to for many people. But sometimes, chicken can get a little boring. That’s where this recipe comes in! This walnut crusted chicken is a delicious and easy way to change up your usual chicken dinner. The best part about this recipe is that, after a short period of marination, it only takes a few minutes to prepare.

Marinating Chicken Tips:

  1. Plan ahead: Marinating chicken takes time, so make sure you plan ahead and give the chicken enough time to marinate. A general rule of thumb is to marinate for at least 30 minutes, but for best results, marinate for several hours or overnight.
  2. Use acidic ingredients: Ingredients like lemon juice, vinegar, or yogurt help to tenderize the chicken and add flavor. Try to use a marinade that includes at least one acidic ingredient.
  3. Be mindful of the salt content: Too much salt can make the chicken taste overly salty and can also dry it out. If you’re using a store-bought marinade, be sure to read the label and consider using a low-sodium variety.
  4. Use the right container: Use a non-reactive container, like a glass dish or a resealable plastic bag, to marinate the chicken in. Avoid using metal containers, as they can react with the acidic ingredients in the marinade.
  5. Mix it up: Be sure to turn the chicken occasionally while it’s marinating so that it marinates evenly.
  6. Marinate in the refrigerator: Marinating chicken at room temperature can create a risk of bacteria growth, so it’s best to marinate the chicken in the refrigerator.
  7. Don’t reuse marinade: If you’ve used a marinade to coat raw chicken, don’t use it again as a sauce without boiling it first to kill any bacteria.

Side Dish Pairings:

Here are five great side dishes that would pair well with a walnut-crusted chicken:

  1. Roasted vegetables such as Brussels sprouts, carrots, or broccoli in olive oil, salt, and pepper, for a delicious and healthy side dish.
  2. Quinoa or Brown rice.  Both of these grains are versatile and easy to prepare, and they’ll provide a nice contrast to the crunchy texture of the walnut-crusted chicken.
  3. A simple salad of mixed greens and a light vinaigrette dressing will provide a nice contrast to the richness of the walnut-crusted chicken.
  4. Sauteed spinach or other greens: Cooked down spinach or other greens like kale or chard, with garlic and lemon make a nice side. It’s healthy and adds some color to the plate.
  5. This chicken served with a creamy and buttery mashed potatoes or a sweeter version like sweet potatoes would be a comforting side dish that pairs well with the rich and flavorful walnut-crusted chicken.

There are several reasons to love this walnut crusted chicken recipe. First, the walnuts provide a delicious and nutritious crunch to the chicken.
