Description

This walnut crusted chicken recipe is just that. The chicken is coated in a mixture of chopped walnuts and then baked until golden brown.

Ingredients

Units Scale

2 boneless chicken breast

1 tbsp olive oil

1/2 tbsp Dijon mustard

2 garlic cloves minced

1 tsp dried thyme

1/2 cup walnuts chopped

1 cup all purpose flour

1 tsp pepper

1 tbsp honey

1 tsp onion powder

1 tsp paprika

1 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Place the chicken, olive oil, mustard, garlic, onion powder and dried thyme in a large zipped-top bag container and refrigerate for at least 2 hours
  2. In a mixing bowl combine the walnut, flour, salt, paprika and pepper
  3. Remove the chicken, shake off a little excess marinade and dip both sides of the chicken in the walnut mixture.
  4. Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
  5. Transfer chicken to the oven and bake for 25 minutes.
  6. Cut the baked chicken into slices.
  7. Ready to serve.

Notes

  • Consider using an Air Fryer to cook the chicken, which can be faster and crispier in the end.  Check your Fryer for manufacturer suggested cooking times.
  • Cook the chicken thoroughly before eating it. Chicken should be cooked to an internal temperature of 165 °F to ensure that any bacteria are killed and the meat is safe to eat.
  • Not a fan of walnuts?  Try with Almonds, Cashews or Pecans.
