Ingredients

4 6oz salmon fillets (patted dry with a paper towel)

1/3 cup honey

1/4 cup soy sauce

2 tablespoon lemon juice

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes

3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil (divided)

kosher salt

freshly ground black pepper

3 cloves garlic (minced)

1 lemon (sliced into rounds)


Instructions

  1. Whisk together honey, soy sauce, lemon juice, and red pepper flakes in a medium bowl.
  2. Heat two tablespoons of oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once it is hot enough, add salmon skin-side up and then season with salt and pepper. Cook for about 6 minutes or until golden. Flip over and add remaining olive oil.
  3. Add garlic and cook for about a minute or until fragrant. Add the honey mixture and sliced lemons. Cook until sauce is reduced by about 1/3.
  4. Baste salmon with the sauce.
  5. Garnish with sliced lemon.
  6. Serve.

Notes

  • When heating the oil, make sure that it is hot but not smoking.
  • You can serve this dish with steamed white rice.
