Fried cod fish sticks are a delicious and easy to make seafood dish. The cod is coated in a light batter and then fried until golden brown.

1 cup all purpose flour

1 egg

1 cup bread crumbs

1 tbsp salt

1 tbsp paprika

1 tbsp lemon pepper seasoning

1/2 cup oil

  1. Cut the fish fillets into strips.
  2. In a large bowl combine salt, lemon pepper, paprika and bread crumbs
  3. Place strips in a dish and apply spices ensuring it is fully coated.
  4. Dip fillets in flour then egg and then crumbs.
  5. Heat oil in a frying pan (350 – 375 degrees).
  6. Fry strips for 5 minutes.
  7. After removing excess oil, transfer fish strips to serving dish.
  8. Ready to serve.

Notes

  • A healthier, cleaner alternative to deep frying is to use an Air Fryer.  Less smell, less cleanup and just as tasty.  You won’t be disappointed!
  • Make sure to use a thermometer to maintain the correct oil temperature. If the oil is too hot, it can smoke and become a fire hazard. If it is not hot enough, the food will absorb too much oil and become greasy.
  • When adding food to the oil, be careful to avoid splatters. Use a slotted spoon or tongs to gently lower the food into the oil.
  • In the unlikely event of a fire, it is important to have a fire extinguisher nearby to put out the flames.
